Principal's Welcome
Welcome to Rochester Secondary College.
Nestled in the heart of northern Victoria, just 180 kilometres from Melbourne, our coeducational college proudly serves approximately 350 students from Years 7 to 12. Rochester Secondary College is a vibrant hub for the surrounding rural and semi-rural communities, including the township of Rochester and its neighbouring districts.
Our College is set on spacious, attractive grounds and boasts excellent facilities that support a rich and diverse curriculum. We are committed to delivering high-quality education in a safe, inclusive, and caring environment—where every student is known, valued, and supported to thrive.
Rochester Secondary College is more than a school—it’s a vital part of the wider community. We deeply value the strong partnerships we maintain with parents, carers, and local organisations. This collaboration is strengthened through active involvement in our College Council and Parents' Club, both of which play key roles in shaping and supporting our school environment.
Our dedicated staff, in partnership with families and students, are focused on continual improvement and innovation in teaching and learning. We uphold clear expectations and supportive structures that encourage positive behaviour, personal growth, and academic achievement.
Our curriculum is designed to engage students at every stage of their educational journey. In the Junior School (Years 7 and 8), students follow a broad and balanced curriculum across all key learning areas, supported by a well-established transition program that ensures continuity from primary to secondary schooling.
In Year 9, students continue core studies in English, Mathematics, and Science while exploring a diverse range of electives that cater to their emerging interests. By Year 10, students have the opportunity to personalise their learning further, including the option to accelerate into VCE or VET pathways.
Our Senior School (Years 11 and 12) offers a comprehensive range of academic and vocational subjects, leading to strong VCE results and successful transitions into further education, training, or employment.
Beyond the classroom, we provide a wide array of enriching experiences—from Year 7 orientation and leadership programs to camps, excursions, sports, performing arts, and work experience placements. These opportunities help students build confidence, broaden their horizons, and develop essential life skills.
With access to excellent sporting and recreational facilities—both on-site and in the wider community—our students benefit from a well-rounded educational experience.
At Rochester Secondary College, we believe in preparing our students not just for exams, but for life. We are proud of our inclusive culture, dedicated staff, and the many achievements of our students. I warmly invite you to explore our college further and discover the many opportunities that await at Rochester.
