On a beautiful sunny day last Friday, Rochester Secondary College held its biennial Funday. Every form group ran at least one activity, with the help of their tireless form teachers. In addition there were two inflatable activities from The Zone, the Lions’ fairy floss machine, Leanne Hooper’s Spray Tattoos and Mr Brooks coffee van.
Many thanks to Susan Coghill, Sharon Williams and Bruce Macague for cooking a delicious BBQ. Students from both St Joseph’s and the primary school came for lunch and a look around. This year also saw an excellent participation and assistance rate from the Year 12 group, a highlight being the talent quest at the end of the day.
It was wonderful to see parents, grandparents and friends visit the school – we even had a pet snake come for a look around! From Devonshire tea to pizza and hot dogs, there was plenty to eat. Face painting and the Haunted House were hits with children of all ages. As usual all our students enjoyed a break from classroom routine, but it was also really pleasing to see groups and individuals teaming up to make the day a success. Plenty of hard workers start their journey to student leadership at Funday.
The SRC executive should feel very proud of their efforts. The College thanks you – Mardi Ryan, Jessica Horkings, Lachlan Wallace, Brock Wright, Ella Haisman, Dimity Pearson, Sarah Trewick and Madesyn Honey. Well done to you all!
